The University of Minnesota and Carleton College competed April 16-18 at the 2009 Tennis On Campus National Championships at the Surprise Racquet and Tennis Complex in Surprise, Ariz.

Christina Keesey and Whitney Taney Win Big 10 Sportsmanship Awards

Northfield's Christina Keesey, who now plays at Ohio State, and Edina's Whitney Taney from Michigan were two of 11 tennis student-athletes honored with the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award. The 11 student-athletes chosen are individuals who have distinguished themselves through sportsmanship and ethical behavior. In addition, the student-athletes must be in good academic standing and have demonstrated good citizenship outside of the sports-competition setting.

Tennis Is Fastest Growing Sport In America

According to data just released by the Sporting Goods Manufacturers Association (SGMA), tennis is the fastest growing sport in America among individual traditional sports with an increase in participation of 43 percent from 2000 to 2008.

University of Minnesota Maroon, Carleton Advance To Tennis on Campus Nationals

The University of Minnesota Maroon and Carleton College both advanced to the Tennis On Campus National Championships after finishing first and second, respectively, at the USTA Northern Section Championships at Life Time Fitness – Lakeville in Lakeville, Minn. Twelve teams from eight different schools are entered this weekend.

Campbell Soup Company To Serve As Title Sponosr Of ITA College Tennis Rankings

The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA), the governing body of college tennis, is pleased to announce that a multi-year agreement has been reached between the ITA and the Campbell Soup Company in which the company will serve as the title sponsor for the ITA College Tennis Rankings and the ITA College Players of the Year awards.

Gustavus' John Kauss Wins ITA Division III National Singles Championship

Gustavus Adolphus senior John Kauss of St. Paul, Minn., and Harding High School, defeated Chris Goodwin of Emory University 6-2, 6-3 to claim the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division III Singles Championship Saturday in Mobile, Ala. Kauss is the first Gustavus men's tennis player to win the ITA Division III national singles title.
