Jr. Team Tennis - Are You In?

USTA Jr. Team Tennis is the largest junior recreational tennis league in the country. This is the “Little League” for tennis. As the players grow into their skills, the format is adapted to best meet their needs whether using the QuickStart format or playing traditional tennis. JTT is a combination of practice and match play with an emphasis on skill development, fun, teamwork and friendly competition. The local season consists of competing against other teams of similar age and ability level. Teams can choose to participate in a Championship series and try to advance all the way to a national championship.

Sioux Falls Ninth; Mankato 12th At JTT 18s Nationals

The Mobile Tennis Center in Mobile, Ala., played host to the 2009 18-And-Under Jr. Team Tennis National Championships October 30-November 1. Sioux Falls finished ninth in the 18 Advanced tournament, while Mankato was 12th in the Intermediate tournament.

Grand Forks Finishes Seventh; Life Time-Fridley 15th At JTT 14-And-Under National Championships

The coastal city of Mobile, Ala., once again served as the Jr. Team Tennis headquarters of the United States as the Mobile Tennis Center played host to the 2009 Jr. Team Tennis National Championships last weekend. The 14s Advanced and Intermediates played October 23-25.

Marc Stingley of Eagan, Minn., is the 2009 USTA Northern Jr. Team Tennis Organizer of the Year. The award recognizes an individual for his or her efforts in expanding an existing Jr. Team Tennis league or developing a new league. He will be honored at the 2009 USTA Northern Annual Awards Banquet November 21 at the Minnesota Valley Country Club in Bloomington, Minn.

Life Time Fitness - Fridley Wins 12s JTT Section Title

Life Time Fitness - Fridley won the 12-and-under USTA Northern Jr. Team Tennis Section Championship August 7 at Baseline Tennis Center on the University of Minnesota campus. Fridley defeated Eau Claire in the championship match by a score of 19-16.

Sioux Falls and St. Cloud Win JTT 18s Championships

Sioux Falls won the Advanced title and St. Cloud the Intermediate championship at the 2009 USTA Northern 18U Jr. Team Tennis Championships at Baseline Tennis Center in Minneapolis. Both teams now move on to the USTA JTT National Championships Oct. 29-Nov. 1 in Mobile, Ala.

Grand Forks Lord of the Strings and LTF-Fridley Win 14U Jr. Team Tennis Titles

The Grand Forks Lord of the Strings will have a chance to defend its 2008 National Championship after winning the 2009 USTA Northern 14-and-Under Advanced Jr. Team Tennis Championship Tuesday at Baseline Tennis Center on the University of Minnesota campus. Life Time Fitness-Fridley won the Intermediate championship. Both teams will compete at the 14-and-Under USTA National Jr. Team Tennis Championships October 23-25 in Mobile, Ala.

Apple Valley Kicks Off Twin Cities JTT Area Championships

Apple Valley hosted the first in a series of USTA Jr. Team Tennis Twin Cities Area Championships – a prelude to the USTA Northern Jr. Team Tennis Section Championships July 27-30 at the University of Minnesota’s Baseline Tennis Center. Other Twin Cities area championships scheduled include events in Coon Rapids, Lakeville and Shakopee.

The Grand Forks Lord of the Strings won the 14-and-under Jr. Team Tennis National Championship today in Mobile, Ala. The Lord of the Strings defeated a team from Austin, Texas, in the finals. The Hibbing Rangers, who was playing the Intermediate tournament, placed 13th.
