The primary roles of a council and committee member include:
1. Recommending ideas, thoughts and changes to Council/Committee Chair and Staff Liaison on any new or existing programs, services or initiatives the Council/Committee oversee.
2. Review, monitor and evaluate those programs and activities connected to Council/Committee duties to ensure the Council/Committee and Staff Liaison meet its goals.
3. Work together with volunteers and staff in the spirit of cooperation and teamwork.
Adult Tennis Council - Charge:
To advise and support staff and volunteers at all levels with promoting and expanding adult tennis programming which include collegiate initiatives, innovative play, adult/senior tournaments and USTA Leagues.

Tournament Play Committee - Charge: To promote and address all activities associated with adult/senior competition, to find ways to increase participation in all adult/senior competition events and to recommend and implement improvements to increase tournament play.

Twin Cities Leagues Committee - Charge:

Community Development Council - Charge:
To advise and support staff and volunteers at all levels with promoting and expanding community development initiatives which include adaptive programming, section awards, Community Tennis Associations, section grants and scholarships, and Tennis in the Parks.

CTA/NJTL Committee-
Charge: To advise and support staff and volunteers at all levels in creating, developing and strengthening a section-wide network of self sufficient Community Tennis Associations (CTA) and National Junior Tennis Leagues (NJTL) to increase tennis participation at the local level.

Grants & Scholarships Committee -
Charge: To advise, support and review grant applicants and allocate appropriate funding based on set criteria, section priorities and need.

Public Facility Assistance Committee- Charge: To develop and promote a unified effort to enhance public tennis facilities throughout the section. This effort would include planning, advocacy, and infrastructure assistance.

Diversity Tennis Council - Charge: To advise and support staff and volunteers at all levels with promoting and expanding diversity as an integral part in all facets of our organization as well as tennis programs throughout the section.

Jr. Team Tennis Committee - Charge: To assist in the section’s efforts to provide increased play opportunities for all junior players by increasing the awareness, demand, and preference for USTA Jr. Team Tennis amongst junior players for the purpose of driving participation and membership.

Membership Council - Charge: To recommend, support and assist the section in its efforts to increase membership, both individual and organizational, to retain existing members and to add value to member benefits.

Officials Council - Charge: To advise and support staff and volunteers at all levels with promoting and expanding our officials initiatives which include assignments, recruitment, tournaments and training. Act as the Officials Appeal Committee.

Tournaments & Assignments Committee - Charge: To assign officials to all events requiring officiating while offering personal and professional growth opportunities for developing officials. It is expected this committee will work hand in hand with the Training Committee to ensure that officials are properly trained for each work assignment. Assignments should be based on experience, test scores, evaluations, and the ability to work with tournament directors, players, coaches, and parents. This would include adult, junior and collegiate tennis.

Disciplinary Committee - Charge: To fairly adjudicate violations to the Official’s Code of Conduct and substandard performance on court. The committee recommends the action, if any, to be taken to the Officials Council Chair.

Training & Recruitment Committee - Charge: To train all officials to national standards. This includes scheduling schools, clinics, and other training opportunities, as well as training and developing Sectional Trainer/Evaluators.
