USTA Northern, a non-profit organization (501c3), is one of 17 regional offices of the United States Tennis Association (USTA). USTA Northern was founded on January 9, 1961, as the Northwestern Tennis Association and serves Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota and the Northwestern section of Wisconsin.
- USTA Northern ranks fifth among the 17 USTA sections in percent of all individuals who have played tennis in the past year.
- Tennis is the only traditional sport reporting an increase in participation (30.6%) during the past 6 years.
- Currently, the Section has over 13,100 members and 240 organizational members. 53% of USTA Northern members are male and 47% are female players.
