Brandon Tennis Association Named 2008 USTA CTA of the Year
The USTA announced that the Brandon Tennis Association (S.D.) has been selected as the 2008 National Community Tennis Association of the Year. It will be honored before more than 600 community tennis leaders at the annual USTA Community Tennis Development Workshop held on February 14, 2009, at the Hilton Head Marriott Resort & Spa on Hilton Head Island, S.C. Mike and Cindy Huether Give Generous Gift For New Tennis Complex At Augustana College
The Huether Tennis Centre will be built on the site of the College’s current tennis facility located east of Grange Avenue between 31st and 33rd Streets. Mike and Cindy Huether of Sioux Falls have provided the lead gift toward the project that will cost approximately $300,000. To read more, click here.
USTA Northern Staff Members Holding Open Forums In Watertown, Sioux Falls and Rapid City
USTA Northern staff members Pat Colbert (Junior Competition), Kara Johnson (Adult Competition and USTA Leagues) and Christine Buysse (USTA Jr. Team Tennis) will be traveling throughout the Section the week of March 9-13, holding a number of open forums and public meetings. Topics to be discussed include USTA Adult League Tennis, USTA Jr. Team Tennis and the new 2010 Junior Tournament Structure. Here is a complete schedule of open forums throughout the week. Sioux Falls' Michael Bergeron To Chair USPTA Tennis - For the Health of it! Campaign
The United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA) has announced the formation of the Tennis – for the health of it! advisory council. The mission of the council is to ensure that all components of Tennis – for the health of it! are health-enhancing, developmentally appropriate, safe and fun. It will be chaired by Michael F. Bergeron, Ph.D., FACSM, USPTA, director of the National Institute for Athletic Health & Performance at Sanford and Center for Youth Sports & Health at Sanford in Sioux Falls, S.D., and Jack Groppel, Ph.D., FACSM, USPTA, Master Professional and vice president, Co-founder of Human Performance Institute.
