Below is information about league tennis for the 2010 Fall/Winter season at the Baseline Tennis Center:
Court Fees
$104/team per 5 court match
$66/team per 3 court match
Captains are to make one payment for the entire team before the match begins.
All players must wear non-marking tennis shoes. We have a very delicate surface which is easily scuffed by black-soled running shoes and cross-trainers whose marks are nearly impossible to clean. Players arriving in running shoes will not be allowed to play!
Cancellation Policy/Confirming Courts
Captains are strongly encouraged to call the Baseline Tennis Center front desk (612-625-1433) 1 day prior to their match to confirm court time.
Courts may be cancelled up to 24 hours in advance without penalty. This can be done by calling the BTC Tennis Desk at 612-625-1433.
Courts cancelled within 24 hours of match time will be attempted to be resold. Any courts not resold remain the responsibility of the defaulting captain and teams will not be allowed to take the court until all court fees have been paid. The key to avoiding this situation is communication with the other captain far in advance of the scheduled match, avoiding any last minute cancellations. No one wants to pay for an unused court and we don’t feel good about charging anyone for it .
Any teams not showing up for a scheduled match will be billed the full amount and not allowed to return until all past due fees are paid.
Entire team matches cannot be rescheduled, there is simply no available court time.
Match Times
Weekday match times start times are scheduled between 6:00pm and 9:30pm. All teams rotate through available match times for that night.
Weekend matches are scheduled as arranged.
All matches are scheduled for a minimum of 105 minutes, some may have up to 120 minutes depending on adjacent reservations.
Match Protocol/Court time management
Captains arrive 15-30 minutes early for their matches, pay the team fee, exchange line-ups, assign courts and distribute balls.
Players arrive at least 15 minutes prior to their scheduled match time, get balls/court assignments, stretch, change shoes, get water, etc.
Warm-up begins immediately after players take the court as is limited to no more than 10 minutes.
Changeovers are limited to 90 seconds
Matches going over the allotted time will be moved to an open court (on a space available basis) or will need to be rescheduled by the captains for a later date.
Post-match Gatherings
Teams are free to use the club room overlooking the courts for snacks/beverages after matches.
NO ALCOHOL IS PERMITTED.
This is a University of Minnesota campus-wide policy and teams violating this rule will be banned from future use of the facility.
Parking
Due to the BTC's proximity to 5 major athletic venues, parking can be tricky around the tennis center. Event parking affects all of us and can be frustrating. We understand your frustration and hope that any event parking struggles are mitigated by overall satisfaction with our facility.
Meters are available directly north of the building on 5th street at a rate of $1.25/hour. Lot parking is available north of the building on 5th Street in lot 37 ($3.75 flat rate) or directly west of the building in the 4th street ramp ($3.00/hr). During events we encourage carpooling or planning to walk a longer distance from your car in order to save money.
Some late matches will have the luxury of free parking as you are able to drive into unmanned surface lots after the beginning of some events and use any available parking space.
As this is your league, please feel free to contact me directly with questions, comments or concerns. We want your experiences here to be great ones and welcome the opportunity to improve. The following is
